Dinner’s on the Deck in Renton

Now that summer’s here and we can dine outside without a parka (lol!) make yourself at home in Renton’s restaurant patio spaces.

Here are suggestions from various Renton neighborhoods:

City Center/The Landing

Trencher’s Kitchen & Bar—Trivia night, live music and two outside patios make locally owned Trencher’s a favorite at The Landing. Catch the lunch specials, chicken wings and extensive beer selection.

Vino at the Landing—Relax outdoors with hard-to-find Northwest wines and a menu of tapas, salads, pasta and desserts. This wine bar and retail shop also hosts “Meet the Winemaker” tastings every Thursday.

Downtown

Hop Garden—Cool off under the outdoor pergola with a pint from Hop Garden’s rotation of 26 local beers on tap. It’s downtown and family friendly, with a menu ranging from burgers to bacon-wrapped prawns.

Whistle Stop Ale House—Pull up a chair under the outside umbrellas for comfortable outdoor dining. This downtown fixture has 18 rotating taps and memorable menu items like truffle-seasoned tater tots.

Blossom Vegetarian—Savor traditional Vietnamese dishes transformed into vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Healthy and flavorful is the focus at this downtown café, also serving specialty tea, beer and wine.

Renton Bistro—Choose outdoor seating and you’ll be on the large front porch of this home-turned-Vietnamese restaurant. The hospitality extends to the friendly service, quality ingredients and generous portions.

Downtown coffee shops—Check out the new downtown sidewalks and other improvements at the tables outside our many downtown coffee shops and cafes. Free 10-hour parking at the city parking garage makes it easy to visit all the downtown shops.

Highlands

Santa Fe Mexican Grill & Cantina—Add bright colors and regional flavors to your outdoor meal at Santa Fe, in the Highlands neighborhood. Dishes are made with local ingredients and traditional techniques.

Plum Delicious Family Restaurant—Bring the family (dogs also welcome) to the spacious outdoor patio. Everyone in the Highlands area knows Plum Delicious for its daily family specials and breakfast served all day.

Talbot/Valley

Aloha Grill—Sample Aloha Grill’s 100% homemade sauces and Hawaiian recipes with a special Asian fusion. The menu includes lean and healthy items and some that stick to your bones. Local Hawaiians feel at home here.

Candor Coffee—Take your time with conversation and coffee at Candor. Designed to feel like the sunshine year round, the shop has a cozy, bright interior and a spacious outside patio. Watch for occasional onsite markets.

Himalayan Café—Recharge after an Ikea shopping adventure in the relaxed setting of this Talbot/Valley neighborhood café. Try the momos, a dumpling-type street food from Nepal filled with ground chicken, chopped veggies and spices.

Book a night or two at one of the local hotels so you can feast on all of Renton’s outdoor dining and recreational activities.
