A team of AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers serving the Renton area this year are putting a spotlight on organizations and groups who do good for our community every day! This week, the light is on the Renton Innovation Zone Partnership:

The Renton Innovation Zone Partnership is a local organization that grew out of efforts to support underserved children as early as 2011. RIZP has been operating since 2017 with their mission to “lead a relationship-based, data informed collaborative network to advance racial equity and create healthy learning opportunities for all children throughout the Renton Innovation Zone.” With the Coronavirus pandemic, they have expanded their efforts to provide relief for the many families experiencing hardship. Their work is multi-faceted as they facilitate programs, advocate for resources, and bring organizations together to help solve problems.

RIZP and their many community partners have created a Resource List that anyone can access, addressing needs ranging from food to rent assistance to educational resources for children. They have also partnered with Communities in Schools Renton-Tukwila to create a Support Request Form for individuals to access those resources. Another one of their projects includes helping combat food insecurity by partnering with Sunset Community Church and Northwest Harvest to bring food banks to Skyway-West Hill and the Highlands neighborhoods.

If you would like to assist the RIZP’s efforts, you can donate food, basic needs supplies, and/or money to their Partners
